Marina Ionescu

Marina Ionescu is a performer, teacher, composer, and adjudicator. She has performed solo recitals, chamber music recitals, and benefit concerts in the U.S., Romania, and Russia. She has studied piano and composition in Romania, the U.S., Russia, and France. She was director of the keyboard and early childhood music programs at Cornerstone Schools, a laboratory pre-K through 8th grade school for inner-city children in Detroit, Michigan, from 2009 to 2011. At Kuyper College in Grand Rapids, she taught applied piano and voice, music theory, music history, and directed the choir. Currently staff accompanist at the Michigan State University Community Music School and freelance accompanist in the Greater Lansing area, she also teaches piano privately and coaches young singers. Her collection of solo piano pieces, “Elk Lake,” was published in Romania in 2014, and she has been invited to present it in meetings of the Capital Area Music Teachers Association and Lansing Matinee Musicale. She is an MMTA Student Achievement Testing performance adjudicator for local chapters in Midland, Metro Detroit, and Grand Rapids. She resides in East Lansing, Michigan.
